RE: Ignorant Platooning
Contrary to the opinion of Astros' coaching, Mike Lamb can handle LHP. In 34 AB's this season, Lamb has posted .294/.351/.529 for an .881 OPS. Against LHP, Lamb has as many extra-base hits as Preston Wilson despite the fact that Wilson's had more than twice the number of at-bats (71). On the other hand, Aubrey Huff, in 75 AB's versus LHP, checks in at .240/.313/.320 for an Ausmusian .633 OPS. For his career, Huff does have an OPS of .751 against LHP while Lamb's is .740 (virtually equal to his career OPS v. RHP of .765). Meanwhile, Lamb sits on the bench while Huff and Wilson play everyday. Just something to think about.

Why not move Wilson over to CF to make room for Lamb? He's played it before. There is no justification for Willy T ever getting a starting nod at this point unless someone's hurt. In other words, what about this alignment?
C--Ausmus/Munson
1B--Berkman
2B--Bidge
SS--Bruntlett (glove be damned, you won't see me justify an Everett start absent an injury)
3B--Lamb
LF--Burke
CF--P-Dub
RF--Huff
Even with Everett on the field, which I don't think is an option that the impotent Astros' offense can afford to consider, there's no reason Lamb doesn't play everyday while Ensberg's on the DL. When Ensberg's healthy, sure, there's a conflict, but Willy T playing over Lamb is grounds for immediate termination. Either Wilson or Burke in CF opens up spots for Berkman, Lamb and Huff.
The theory is, I guess, Willy T in CF improves your defense and helps the Astros' smallball abilities. Funny the impact that a .300 OBP has on his thievery. Not to mention the fact that Lamb's bat in this lineup, regardless of his defensive shortcomings, is like Viagra in the hands of Gus Gustafsson when his new, red-headed neighbor moves in at the end of the snow-lined street.
I had to use IMDB to confirm it, but you just made a "Grumpy Old Men" reference. If you don't rescind your posting privileges immediately, I quit.
