'Stros Notes

Yet another busy night for the Houston Huffstros...

1. Ensberg to the DL: Finally. I was at the June 9th game when he hurt his shoulder, and I remember that it was bad enough to cause him to leave that game. He hasn't been the same since; I don't think it's a coincidence that he's hitting like Adam Everett since the injury. Hope he takes his time (and he should, now that franchise savior Aubrey Huff is here) and comes back at full strength. The path to the playoffs becomes significantly easier if we get the Mo of 2005 (or even of April 2006) back.

2. Aubrey Huff goes 2-4 with a three-run HR in his victorious Astros debut. My guess is that he read H-Town Sports and realized he had to make a good impression. Since it is apparent that our words can inspire professional athletes to go above and beyond, I think it's our responsibility to turn Everett and Ausmus around at the plate. Hey, fellas--how about a hit this month?

3. While Huff got all the pub, it should be noted that Fat Elvis actually drove in the go-ahead run (his NL-leading 80th RBI) right before Huff's bomb. Let's not forget who captains the Good Ship Astro.

4. In the summary/notes section from the link above, it's reported that Wandy is headed to the 'pen "indefinitely." My favorite part of that blurb is Garner's take on it:

'"I like Wandy as a starter, and let's face it, even though Wandy's ERA is a little lower, most recently in the last three or four starts, Buchholz has pitched a little better than Wandy," Garner said.'

Let's face it indeed. The guy is the Jeriome Robertson of '06. Nice to see Scrap Iron get out in front of this one before it's too late.

I don't understand how Ensberg annually skirts the DL when the entire City seems to be fully aware of his injury. Is this a conspiracy of excuses from Mo?

Saying Buchholz has pitched 'a little better than Wandy' is like saying that Tim Purpura is 'a little cautious' when it comes to the promotion of prospects. Now it could come down to Wandy v. Gallo as the Astros' #2 LOOGY down the stretch. Feeling nauseous, Astros fans?
