DeMeco Gets His Props

Franchise stalwart DeMeco Ryans has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week:

Makes sense, considering the guy did everything but drive the team bus to the stadium. And this is even more impressive when you remember that Ryans is just a rookie. It's pretty easy to forget that when he's flying around the field making plays every week. How he lasted until the second round of the draft is one of the great mysteries of the universe.

In other news, David Carr still makes me want to jump off a tall building. More on this later, but I have no doubt that Vince Young is going to make Sunday's game very, very ugly for the hometown team.

Yes, DeMeco is the shizznit. I couldn't believe my luck when the dude I had seen dominate at Bama got drafted by my hometown team. I had predicted pre-draft that we should take him if he somehow got past the Giants (who still need a linebacker) and he could be like a slimmer Ray Lewis. Him and Mario, maybe Dunta, will be the core of a great defense for years to come, eventually.

I'm with you, Brian. As I've noted on multiple occasions, Dunta has given me nightmares with his play this season, but we know that he can be a shutdown corner. As much heat as the Texans took for taking Super Mario, every other team in the league with anything less than three stud linebackers should be ridiculed for passing on DeMeco.
