Hooks Continue to Roll
AAA: Salt Lake 6 Round Rock 5 - PCL Player of the Week JR House (pictured) continues to mash the ball, but Taylor Buchholz and Travis Driskill could not keep the Bees off the board. Buchholz's line: 7 IP, 8H, 5 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 8K. House was 2-4, Cody Ransom was 3-4 with another home run and Humberto Quintero had a three-run shot (his third of the season).
AA: Corpus Christi 4, Tulsa 2 - The Hooks continued their winning ways, as Hunter Pence, Walter Young and Jorge Cortes each had two hits. Carlos Hernandez allowed four hits and a run in three innings, and Josh Miller was the star, earning his ninth win of the season with five shutout innings of relief, giving up only one hit.
High A: Lynchburg 4, Salem 2 - Homers from Nathan Sellers and Beau Torbert were the only runs that the Avalanche could produce. Paulino del Guidice had another lackluster start.
Low A: Lexington 2, Columbus 1 - Tommy Manzella was 2-3 with a home run, and SP Garrett Murdy pitched seven strong innings to run his record to 6-2.
Short Season A: Tri-City 5, Onenota 1 - LF Aaron Bulkley had two hits and his first home run of the season.
Rookie: Bristol 8, Greenville 2 - Nothing worth a mention here.
Zobrist/Talbot Watch: Ben Zobrist had another good night, this time on the road in Seattle. Zobrist was 2-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. After a miserable 1-17 start, Rays' skipper Joe Maddon stuck with Ben, who has responded by going 4-8 with two doubles and a home run and has still played a flawless SS. Ben has gotten every start at SS since being called up from Durham.
