James Alder, author of the famous Your Guide to Football newsletter and resident draft expert for About.com, has quite the interesting selection predicted for the Texans in the 2007 Draft: Frank Okam. Sure, he has not revised his draft order to reflect the end-of-the-season results, but that's no problem - James had the Texans taking Okam back when they were slated to draft #3 overall.

I had read something else today that sounded a lot more reasonable: the Texans taking some underclassman LT from USC, Sam Baker. He's supposed to be really good. I have faith in the Smith/Kubiak regime to continue to draft well. Aside from anyone's quarrels over the #1 pick, the 2006 draft class was great for Houston.
The mock drafts I've seen, and almost all of them are at least 2 weeks old, have Adrian Peterson being the 3rd-best player but not going until the 7-10 pick because of need. Considering that the Raiders are allegedly hot for Brian Brohm instead of Brady Quinn, everything is still up in the air.
Have you heard the rumor about Washington offering us Clinton Portis for the 8th pick? Would you consider it?
Hadn't heard that rumor. I'd consider swapping the eighth pick for Portis, but I don't think I'd do it. Portis is a stud, but he's coming off an injury. And aside from the concerns about his hefty salary, I'm not so sure that I wouldn't want to give Chris Taylor a chance to carry the load.
One more thing...since our LT may never play again, I'd probably want to use that pick on one of them. Sam Baker sounds awfully good right now.
