Astros Hire Pitching Coach
Seems that T-Poo finally got around to replacing Jim Hickey. While I wonder why Wallace's contract wasn't renewed with the Red Sox, it's nice to add another coach with championship experience to the staff. And make no mistake: If the Katy Rocket and Pettitte don't return, Wallace is going to have to work his butt off to get results out of everyone on the 'Stros staff not named Roy Oswalt.

Seems from the outside like a strong hire. Good credentials, long history in baseball, and it seems like the players and coaches in Boston were disappointed to see him go. Seems possible that Theo axed the pitching and hitting coaches in an attempt to deflect the blame from himself, or as he worded it, "change the environment". Let's see if he can "Papelbon" Fernando Nieve in 2007...
